After several years of education and training growing assistant cameraman, Stefan Fricke then became cameraman and worked for many years in this occupation, shooting hundreds of commercials, documentaries and episodes. Later on he also became director for various film-productions.

1974 Stefan Fricke founded his first production company in Munich and produced until now approx. 250 films, mostly edited by German Broadcasting Stations, e.g. Bayerischer Rundfunk BR, Norddeutscher Rundfunk NDR, Westdeutscher Rundfunk WDR, Südwestrundfunk SWR und Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen ZDF.

These films were e.g. children programmes (fictional and documentary), portraits of outstanding people, long-term documentary films, films on primitive race, wildlife films, landscape- and city-portraits, philosophical and historical subjects, culture programmes, features.

Stefan Fricke wrote and directed some of his projects by his own, but he also worked with international filmmakers, directors, authors. His films were realized in many different countries on all five continents, such as:

  • Europe: Germany, Romania, Russia
  • America: USA, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Equador and the Galápagos Islands
  • Asia: Japan, Pakistan, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Siberia, Kazakhstan
  • Africa: Namibia, Tanzania, Nigeria, Kenia, Morocco
  • Australia

In 1988, Stefan Fricke also founded the production company Cinema 88 Film- und Fernsehproduktion GmbH in Munich, Germany. Until now Cinema 88 has produced some 90-minutes-films like "Die Hinterlassenschaften" and series like "Die Sängerknaben".
